Yuting Zhou

Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Yuting received her B.S. from Arizona State University and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Michigan State University, where she worked with Prof. James E. Jackson. She then pursued postdoctoral research with Prof. Jeffrey S. Moore at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In 2026, Yuting joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant professor and as a member of the Vagelos Institute for Energy Science and Technology (VIEST). Her research explores multimodal activation strategies for controlling chemical reactivity in macromolecular systems.

Teto

Senior Feline Associate

Teto joined the Zhou Group at its inception. His research interests include cardboard boxes, food sampling, and the optimization of afternoon naps.

Outside the lab, he enjoys supervising Yuting, singing while she works, and demanding that the yard door be opened precisely when she has just sat down.

Undergraduate and Master’s Students

Penn undergraduate and master’s students interested in joining the Zhou Group are welcome to contact Yuting. Students from other institutions are also welcome to inquire about summer research opportunities.

Graduate Students

We are actively recruiting graduate students! Current Penn Chemistry graduate students interested in the Zhou Group are encouraged to reach out to Yuting. Prospective students should first apply to Penn Chemistry’s graduate program.

Graduate students conducting energy-related research may also be eligible for the VIEST Graduate Fellowship.

Postdoctoral Researchers

We welcome inquiries from prospective postdoctoral researchers interested in joining the Zhou Group. Please email Yuting with your CV, a brief description of your previous research, and your research interests.

Prospective postdoctoral researchers may also be interested in the VIEST Postdoctoral Fellowship, which supports collaborative research in energy science.
